Alyssa Sandman Malin is a seasoned New York City real estate attorney with two decades of insider experience navigating the intricate landscape of multifamily housing law. As the founder and principal of Sandman Malin PLLC, she offers clients unparalleled insight into the regulatory frameworks that govern New York City's multifamily sector.
Ms. Malin's career encompasses a diverse array of roles in multifamily, including seven years as General Counsel to one of NYC's largest multifamily/rent stabilized owners. As the organization's chief legal officer, Ms. Malin ran legal operations across the company, at both asset and fund levels, for a multifamily investment portfolio of over 12,000 units.
During her six years of practice at Belkin Burden Goldman, LLP, Ms. Malin honed her expertise in rent stabilization, housing discrimination, land use, and property tax incentive programs such as 421-a and J-51 as she represented clients before a variety of regulators including DHCR, HPD, Human Rights, and the NYS Attorney General’s Office.

Early in her career, Ms. Malin served in DHCR’s Legal Affairs Department, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of regulatory processes from within.​
​Throughout her practice, Ms. Malin has represented a broad spectrum of clients, including large institutional investors and lenders, property owners of all sizes, and nonprofit organizations. Her proficiency in affordable housing compliance, landlord-tenant law, and regulatory due diligence makes her a trusted advisor for stakeholders seeking to navigate the complexities of NYC's housing regulations.​
Ms. Malin holds a Juris Doctor from New York Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. Ms. Malin has been published by The Cooperator and Mann Report, and she has lectured before the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.
